The latest addition to the award winning Fallout franchise, Fallout: New Vegas, has a little something extra in store for the more dedicated wasteland wanderers amongst you in the form of it’s Hardcore mode.

From the get go on your quest you can opt into the brand new Hardcore mode, allowing them to bypass early tutorials and live a harder wasteland life. Some changes include weighted ammunition, severely limiting the amount of bullets you can carry, stimpacks not healing you instantly and a trip to the doctors required for such things as crippled limbs and more serious injuries.

Some more changes made by Obsidian Entertainment, who have taken over from Bethesda for New Vegas, like a tweaked V.A.T.S mode and a Companion wheel, a method for issuing basic commands to your A.I companions.

The news that Bungie were giving ‘Friends & Family’ Beta codes to allow a select few people (around 20,000) to download and play the Halo Reach beta early sparked a mass internet movement. Many websites offered these beta codes in a prize draw competition to readers of their websites, others selected a random few comments on their articles and emailed codes to the unsuspecting fans!

For most, seeing the ‘invitation to the Reach Beta’ email in their inbox was too good to be true. Unfortunately for some it really was.  Youtube and various forums on the net have become flooded with posts from people claiming to have the elusive early beta code, the catch is you have to download an exe file to generate the code or fill in an online survey…. (do you see where this is going?)… Once the unsuspecting Halo fan has downloaded the executable or completed a survey disclosing daddy’s credit card details they are given a code that, once entered, returns the “this code has already been redeemed” message – Oh the shock… Oh the horror….

So in this beta month of May, save yourself some heart ache my fellow gamers and stay away from anyone offering you a code if you have to download or complete anything! If you want the code and cant wait until early morning May the 3rd (tomorrow!) then get on twitter and start searching…. but please do remember to take a pinch of salt with you.

These headphones are most likely the best I have tried to date; better than the Bose QC15′s, QC2′s and QC3′s. The overall quality surpasses my expectations and I commend Dr Dre and Monster Cable for making such a great product. Although they feel kind of cheap, the sound quality is amazing and the bass is stupendous.

I’m sure you’ve probably read our report yesterday that Gizmodo have got their hands on what they believe to be the upcoming iPhone 4G, well today more proof has come to life that it is infact the real thing.

Gizmodo’s Brian Lam just received a formal request email from the Apple Legal Department stating that they want their iPhone returned, this pretty much confirms that this is the upcoming device or at least a prototype. Read more »

The upcoming 4th gen iPhone rumoured to be called the ‘iPhone HD’ has somehow managed to slip into the hands of the guys over at Gizmodo. Which was apparently “found lost in a bar in Redwood City, camouflaged to look like an iPhone 3GS.”

Visually, it is very different to the current iPhone models style of smooth chromed curves, as the style has been replaced with a squarer sort of ceramic backing, similar style to that of the iPad. Gizmodo have disassembled the device to find out as much as they can about it, and they managed to find that it features:

• Front-facing video chat camera
• Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)
• Camera flash
• Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad)
• Improved display. It’s unclear if it’s the 960×640 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the “Connect to iTunes” screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.
• What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack
• Split buttons for volume
• Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic

From all the evidence Gizmodo have uncovered, this definitely does look like the real deal, seeing as even iTunes detects it as an iPhone device and when booted shows the official boot sequence. It does look very nice I must admit, Apple obviously keeping to the elegant style of the iPad. I really wish I had one of these right now!

Microsoft’s latest Office suite has finally been released to manufacturers and is now in its final stage of development after being in Beta for quite a while.

The RTM release allows manufacturers to prepare for the Office 2010 launch and to make sure that is fully compatible, however I’m sure some of you pirates will be getting your hands on the RTM copy very soon.

Microsoft’s Takeshi Numoto stated “Since the start of our public beta in November 2009, we’ve had more than 7.5 million people download the beta version – that’s more than three times the number of 2007 beta downloads”

That really is a hell of alot of downloads, which Microsoft will only see as a success, and I’m sure they just hope that the final release will do as well as the Beta.

Office 2010 will arrive in the summer later this year, and Office packages will range from £109 – £430 depending on what you want, bringing updates to all your favourite office applications and of course incorporating the highly anticipated online office functionality, Microsoft’s competitor against the very popular Google Docs.
